Highlands News-Sun By Phil Attinger
SEBRING — After two hours hearing arguments for and against it, county commissioners voted Tuesday to let Bernie Little Distributors Inc. build a beverage distribution center on Scenic Highway.
They approved both land use and zoning changes on parts of a 30-acre tract located on the northeast corner of Sebring Parkway and Scenic Highway, with the understanding that the facility will go on the back corner of the lot, set back from both roads.'
Joe Little, son of business founder, Bernie Little Sr., said in his presentation that the 48-year business has outgrown the facility it built in 1986 on U.S. 98, even after two on-site expansions.
“We want to stay in Highlands County,” Little said.

BUILDING SKILLS FOR A FUTURE - AN OPINION PIECE BY JOHN ROUSCH, DIRECTOR OF THE HIGHLANDS AVIATION & AEROSPACE ACADEMY
Highlands News-Sun | John Rousch
There are a few things in this world I am passionate about. Education is one and has been at the core of my journey through life from an early age.
We have adopted the theme in our Aviation and Aerospace program of creating “Options and Opportunities” for our youth through a hands-on and a rigorous curriculum in aviation and aerospace. The options and opportunities approach can be applied to any of our curriculums in school. Our students not only need to learn what the content of a class is, but also why it is important to them.
John Rousch is the director of the Highlands Aviation and Aerospace Academy, a community partnership between The School Board of Highlands County, the Sebring Regional Airport, EAA Chapter 1240, and Career Source Heartland, and other community groups supporting youth.
