U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA): Entrepreneurs need to prepare for natural disasters - the time is now.
September is National Preparedness Month. I view this not as a celebration, but as a critical reminder for entrepreneurs across the Southeast of how important it is to be prepared in case of any natural disaster, whether it is a hurricane, tornado, wild fire, algae bloom - the list goes on. in order for a small business to survive a natural disaster, it must be prepared.
This article identifies tips to keep in mind, especially as we reach the peak of hurricane season across the Southeast.

CAREERSOURCE HEARTLAND UNVEILS TWO NEW SECTOR STRATEGY INDUSTRY VIDEOS
CareerSource Heartland, the local workforce board for Highlands, Hardee, DeSoto and Okeechobee Counties, has unveiled two new sector strategy industry videos - one for Healthcare and one for Manufacturing.
The 30-second motion graphic videos were created to promote career interest in these two sector strategy industries and are meant and encouraged to be shared.

SFSC SUPPORTS COMPLETION PROGRAM

As classes started back on Monday, Governor Ron DeSantis, Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran, Tallahassee Community College President and Council of Presidents Chair Jim Murdaugh, and 18 other Florida College System presidents are showing their support for the Last Mile Completion Program.
South Florida State College President Thomas Leitzel is among those supporting the Last Mile Completion Program, which helps students who left college with 12 or fewer credit hours remaining, to complete their first degree.

SEBRING AGERO CHANGING OWNERS

The operations of the Sebring Agero contact center will be transitioned September 1 to the Results Companies, a call center management company. According to Agero, during the transition, it will be business as usual for its other centers, its clients and service providers.
From Agero’s Medford, Massachusetts headquarters, Public Relations Manager Kate Patty said transfer of the ownership of the Sebring facility is going to a third-party partner, the Results company, which is taking over management of the facility and the personnel as of Sept. 1.
“We have essentially partnered with them to provide our employees the opportunity for continued employment, but just through Results,” she said. Agero has been a partner with Results for about three years.

Tallahassee, Fla. - Today (August 16), Governor Ron DeSantis announced the number of employed Floridians has increased to more than 10 million in July 2019. Over the year, 128,000 people entered the labor force at an annual growth rate of 1.3 percent.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS MOVING TO FLORIDA IS ON THE RISE

While Florida is often thought of as a mecca for retirees, a recent analysis of moving trends by one of the nation's top moving companies documented that nearly a third of new residents moving to the Sunshine state are young professionals.
The Suddath Companies, a 100-year-old global mobility company based in Florida, analyzed recent moving data to see who Florida's newest residents were and what was attracting them. The findings show the state's robust job market is drawing in young talent from across the U.S., with more than 30 percent of new Florida residents stating that it was a fresh opportunity provided by job transfers or new employment that made them want to call Florida home.
