New this month is a business workshop that provides insight on how to purchase commercial buildings using the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 504 loan program.
Attendees will learn:
- How the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loan program can help business owners purchase, build or renovate commercial buildings as well as provide funds for things like capital machinery with as little as a 10 percent down payment.
- How an SBA certified development company can approve business owners and co-lend with their banks and credit unions for a low-interest, below market rate loan.
- About tools offered through the Florida Small Business Development Center at University of South Florida that can make a business more profitable with DISC behavioral assessments, Profit Mastery training, Growth Acceleration and Export Marketing Plan services.
The workshop is provided in partnership by Highlands County Economic Development, the Florida SBDC at University of South Florida, located at South Florida State College, Florida First Capital Finance Corporation and South Florida State College.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is hosting its regional Brownfield Symposium in SEBRING. The sixth annual event provides valuable insight about grants, loans, cleanup and successful Brownfield sites. The event is open to the public. Developers, investors, commercial real estate professionals, government, engineers and other interested parties are encouraged to attend.
