A current board member's term is set to expire on September 30, 2018. In accordance with the Board of County Commissioners' Policy on Board Appointments, the public is hereby notified of the pending vacancy.
IDA members serve four-year terms and play an integral part in shaping the county’s current and future economy.
The IDA, as authorized by Florida Statute 159.44 – 159.53, is responsible for financing projects for the public purposes described in the Florida Industrial Development Financing Act and by Florida Statute, and for fostering the economic development of the county.
IDA board members also serve concurrent terms on the Highlands County Economic Development Commission, which is the nonprofit component of economic development efforts in Highlands County.
Applicants must be electors of Highlands County and may not serve on more than three County Commission committees simultaneously, provided only one of the committees has final decision making authority.
